In the field of computer networks proxy server and IP address are very common terms. A proxy server can be defined as an intermediate server; it sends the request of the clients to other servers from where the client might be seeking some request. A few services that a client requests when he connects to a proxy server are a file, some connection, webpage or some other resource. The proxy server has some preset rules according to which it filters the request.

A proxy server has many uses; some of them can be enumerated as follows:

• To keep machines anonymous. This is generally done for security purposes.
• To speed up the access to some resource.
• To bypass some security control.
• To apply access policies to some specified services or controls.
• To scan any content that is outbound. This is done for protecting against the leak of data.
• To scan the content that is transmitted for malware before it gets delivered at the destination.

Proxy list can be defined as a list of open HTTP/HTTPS/SOCKS proxy servers all on one single website. Proxy list includes the IP addresses of computers which host open proxy servers. Open proxy servers are those proxy servers which are available to everyone. IP address is the Internet Protocol Address; it is a numerical label which is assigned to each device that participates in a computer network.
